Vision - Through a love of design, we will craft a beautiful
sustainable future... one without all the scary stuff…and then tell
everyone we know about it.
Mission – Oliveira Textiles will establish
itself as the next generation provider of printed, sustainable textiles
for a natural and healthy home.
After more than 20 years spent creating fashion and
home textiles for brands such as Stark Carpet, Polo Ralph Lauren, and
Dana Buchman, to name but a few, Dawn made the decision to leave New
York and relocate back to her native state of Rhode Island. A bout of
illness in the family set her and business partner, Deborah Olson to
thinking about how toxins in the environment affect human health.
They chose to go with a proven talent for design and
incorporate eco-conscious principles in a product that would promote
awareness of healthy alternatives in the market. While the collections
are primarily sea-inspired like the floral-esque 'Anemone' and the new
'Kelp Me' print, the abstracted quality of the patterns lend themselves
perfectly to many applications: that chic armchair , your ultra-mod
headboard or even that perfect summer sarong. Oliveira Textiles creates
fabric that people can be confident living with and supporting through
their affiliations with partners like The Organic Trade Association and
VoteHemp.org.
When Dawn's not in her office working on new
designs, you can find her teaching a class called “Green Textiles for
Home & Apparel through The Rhode Island School of Design's
Continuing Ed Program.
